Just because you find yourself in an emergency or survival situation does not mean you have to forget about your oral hygiene. You should have already packed a toothbrush in your survival kit, the only other thing you need are these diy emergency kit toothpaste dots.

Don’t worry this is yet another super easy diy project that you can do with the kids. You do not even need to use expensive toothpaste, because apparently the cheaper ones work better when it comes to drying up into dots. Carrying dots, will save you when it comes to the weight of your bag as well as space.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • toothpaste
  • baking soda
  • non stick tin foil
  • airtight container or small bottle
  • food dehydrator (optional)

You begin by laying out your non stick surface on the kitchen counter or table. They you want to gently squeeze some dots on to it, do as many as you think your family would need. A little baking soda sprinkled on top, and then you let them dry. This is the hard part for someone who is as impatient as I am.

When dry, you want to turn them over and sprinkle more baking soda, before letting them air dry again. There is the option to use a dehydrator at low temperature but I did not as I was afraid I could mess with the chemical composition of the toothpaste. Your dried dots can be stored in an air tight container until they are ready for use.

How to use? Just pop one of these dots or two into your mouth and let it rehydrate. Then you can brush your teeth. If your saliva cannot rehydrate it, then you can use a little water too.
