How To Boil Water Using Rocks

We should all know by now, that if you do go searching for water and you find water you should never ever drink it without either boiling it or distilling it. We will talk about the later in another post but for today let us concentrate on boiling water. You probably won’t have a container that you can heat the water over the fire, therefore it is wise to learn how to boil water using rocks.

It is actually an ingenious method I learnt from Matt, whilst watching Dual Survival. It uses the rocks to transfer heat to the water and ultimately boils the water. If we exclude the time it takes to heat the rocks, the water actually boils in less than 60 seconds. I think we can say this probably one of the fastest ways to boil water, known to man.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1.

Place the rocks in your fire, and allow them to heat up.

Step 2.

Pour your water into your gourd or bamboo container.

Step 3.

Once the rocks have heated up quickly transfer them using
the two sticks to hold them into the container.

Step 4.

As the rocks transfer heat to the water you should see
bubbles rising to the top as it starts to boil.

Step 5.

Allow to cool, remove the rocks & drink your water.

I broke it down to 5 steps above, but it is pretty much very easy, anyone can do this. If you have collected natural herbs, you can add them to the water and brew some bush tea. With so many ways to purify water, one should never have to drink water straight from the source. Unless of course it is spring water, that is usually super clean and ready to drink. Try boiling some water with rocks at home and see for yourself how easy it is.

** Don’t use rocks from a river or creek, they have moisture in them, they may explode when heated. The best type of rocks to use should be dry, not sparkly but plain and simple.
