Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • empty soda or beer can
  • toothpaste
  • char cloth
  • clay
  • grass
  • tinder
  • twigs or branches
  • dry leaves
  • dry cloth (optional)

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1.

Polish the bottom of the can using chocolate, toothpaste
or if out in the wilderness, clay will do a good job too.
Repeat until the bottom is shiny and reflects like a mirror.

Step 2

Take your char cloth and aim it above your can, trying to
pin point the area that has the smallest concentrated light.
You can also aim the can at the sun and the tinder.

Step 3

Transfer your char cloth to some grass once it
starts to light up and release some smoke.

Step 4.

Add more twigs and wood to keep your fire going once the
tinder has caught fire to build a bigger fire.

To speed up the process make sure that your can is aimed directly at the sun. If you do not point it at the sun it will take you forever to get your fire started. Using black materials such as your char cloth also helps, as we all know black absorbs heat.
